Stencil sponge painting

Today we tried the first of (hopefully) many fun activities, sponge stencil painting!

A nice, low-cost, fun activity that can be done indoors or outdoors, and exposes toddlers to art, alphabets, colours and textures! 👍🏻

Items required:

  • Water based paint (anything rinses off with water because toddlers)
  • A plate of sorts to squeeze paint on
  • Thick paper that does not get soggy when painted on (recommended: watercolour paper)
  • Sponge(s)
  • Stencils (crafty mamas can create your own with a Silhouette Cameo, or just buy a cheap pre-cut stencil for $2 from Daiso if you’re lazy like me 😅)
  • 1 x toddler

She ended up creating abstract art and ignored me when I tried to point out the alphabets, but she totally loved it!
