Nokia’s The Rookie!
Jun 9th
Advertorial
Ever watched The Apprentice? Singapore’s having our own version “The Rookie”, created by Nokia!
12 contestants have been selected to vie for an intenship spot at a top firm. The big names include Standard Chartered Bank, Microsoft, Zouk… and of course, Nokia.
Like The Apprentice, The Rookie’s contestants are also split into 2 teams where they compete in a series of challenges and the losing team has to eliminate someone.
However, what’s different in The Rookie is that contestants are often given instructions & challenges through their Nokia E72!

The last one standing will be crowned The Rookie at a reveal party at Zouk after several challenges, and win not only the prestigious internship, but also $5,000 cash. Awesome or what.
One of these contestants may be $5,000 richer in a month!
The series has already started on 28th May and will be running all the way up to 2nd July tentatively! Click here to watch the webisodes now!
Viewers don’t just get to watch the show. If you manage to predict the winner of the show, you may just be one of the 2 lucky ones who walk away with a Nokia E72!
So get your minds a-crackin’ and start watching em episodes now!

Before I start this post, let me reintroduce Upstairs Guy. Some of you may be familiar with him from my tweets and plurks, but for those who don’t… There is a guy, living upstairs. This much I think most of you already have managed to grasp.
The thing is that Upstairs Guy takes a shower at approximately 12:30am to 1:00am every day without fail, and sings Wang Lee Hom songs without fail. His voice is pretty nice btw. So one day I decided to communicate to said Upstairs Guy by singing 彩虹 by Jay Chou loudly (haha) to see if there would be any reaction.
And taa-daa! The next night, he sang this song instead wahahhaa! Anyway I have no point. It’s just that that now he’s singing in this annoying falsetto voice that totally disrupted what I originally wanted to blog about by making me write about him instead.
/insert break
On to the real post. Kinda. The bf has returned from the jungles of Brunei bearing a gift! He bought me choccies! Didn’t really expect anything given that he was coming back from a jungle so was pleasantly surprised.
He got me this!
A box of Ferrero Tronkys! He has coincidentally bought me my favourite type of chocolate, the type with hazelnut fillings yums. I say coincidentally because I’m so sure that he doesn’t know what my fav type of choc is. In fact, I’m willing to bet my cat on it wtf.

So I have a sewing machine after having a flash of realization that I don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of $ doing minor alterations to my clothes. $8 for a zipper wtffff.
And what are the odds. I googled for ‘sewing machine’ and whaddaya know, the first image that came up was that of my sewing machine! As countless animes have taught me, this is called
(unmei).
So after many days of flipping the menu, trial-and-error and asking the dad, I finally figured out how to operate the damn thing.
Behold, my very first stitch on it. *tear*
It’s almost as touching as watching a baby grow up or something. So anyway, have made a collage of the clothes that I should do something about.
23 in total! I’m so excited!

Last last last thing I’m going to write about today, promise. I dunno what’s up with how I blog man. Some days I get verbal diarrhea and then after that there’s a loooong drought. Oh well.
Okok the last thing is that I bought a GHD!
A GHD would also be known as the most awesome hairstyler ever. Check out the reviews online and don’t blame me if you go get one yourself hurs. It stands for Good Hair Day, which I will be having all the time from now on thank you.
Staked out at eBay for eons waiting for a cheap one to come by, and from a reliable seller because this straightener is apparently so good that there are tons of fake ones around. The concept of an imitation straightener is so foreign.
Ok end bye!
Watch Inuyasha Episode 133 to 134 Subbed
Oct 25th

After eons upon eons of googling I have finally found the elusive Inuyasha episodes 133 and 134 subbed and not awfully dubbed. I hate watching dubbed episodes.
Hopefully, this will help some people in the same predicament as me:
The only catch is that you have to download the Veoh player, but that is just a small pebble in the grand scheme of events.
Enjoy!
First H1N1 case confirmed in Singapore
May 27th
The first case of H1N1 in Singapore has been confirmed. Below is the article, via Channel News Asia:
SINGAPORE: Singapore has confirmed its first case of Influenza A (H1N1).
The patient is currently being treated at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and is in stable condition.
The patient is a 22-year-old Singaporean woman who was in New York from May 14-24.
She arrived back in Singapore from New York on SQ25 on 26 May at 6.30am. She began to develop a cough while onboard. She passed the thermal scanner uneventfully as she did not have fever then.
Later in the morning, she consulted a GP who decided to send her to TTSH via a 993 ambulance, given her travel history. She was immediately admitted for testing. Laboratory confirmation of her infection was made by midnight of 26 May.
The patient has been vigilant in monitoring her own condition and had sought immediate medical attention once she realized that she was unwell.
Her attending GP, through his quick response in activating the 993 ambulance for the patient, had also helped to minimize the spread of infection from this case.
The Health Ministry says it has initiated contact tracing of her close contacts. They will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis.
Passengers who had travelled in the same flight and were seated in rows 52 to 58 are urged to call the hotline at 1800-333 9999 to enable the MOH to check on their health condition.
The MOH adds that all medical practitioners and healthcare institutions should continue to be vigilant to suspect cases.
Singapore will continue with temperature screening for passengers entering Singapore at all checkpoints (land, sea and air).
All passengers passing through or entering Singapore are given Health Alert Notices on board their flights, advising them to monitor their own health if they have been to affected areas and to seek medical attention immediately if they are not well.
Free air tickets from Tiger Airways, lykRLY!
Sep 21st
I finally have an excuse to post up century old photos of my previous trips. Hur hur. You know, I remember how it used to be super expensive to travel anywhere by air. Nowadays I see so many poor students (like me) who can afford to go overseas with their own savings!
So, yay for budget airlines (e.g. Tiger Airways)!
These are photos from my HK trip way back in 2005 with my JC classmates.
First up, an exciting photo!
The purpose of the photo below was not to take Chong Han, but the guy behind haahahhaa. Cheap thrills.
Kat doing what we all (not so) secretly want to do.
Group shot at some park.
The scariest theme park ride of my life! No, not the ferris wheel. -_-”
Us wearing our class tee at the HK airport. My shirt dunno disappear to where already! Sigh.
Looking at these photos make me super nostalgic lah! Bahs. I need a holiday! Do you? Just join the Ping.sg-Tiger Airways “Share Your Holiday” contest!
Tiger Airways is currently celebrating its 4th anniversary by having a special birthday fares starting from S$0.04 to various destinations.
Tiger Airways is Asia Pacific’s true low fare airline. It offers passengers not only one of the lowest possible airfares in the market, but safe, reliable and convenient point-to-point air travel as well. Tiger Airways now flies to more than 27 destinations across 9 countries in Asia-Pacific on a fleet of brand new Airbus A320 aircraft.
