Only they are capable of capturing the details of kitty’s exquisite fur!! And do the background blurring thingy that makes normal photos look so cluttered.

I know I sound like a complete nubshit, but that’s only cos I really am one. Aha but I know the background blurring thing is apeture-related so there!

Ah but even the photos taken by a complete nubshit like me are so much better than those by my Canon compact cam (which I have stopped using after seeing the awesome photos taken by DSLRs).

Had dinner with the bf at Mad Jack’s last weekend. He wanted to eat Long John Silver’s at first but eh, I don’t really know why we changed our plans.

I think I should stop being so mean to him and start eating what he wants for a change haha.

We went out on a finger (as opposed to limb cos that would be stretching it) and spent $6.90 on cheese fries! Think it’s quite expensive for a plate of fries but omg, they were so good!

The rest of our food wasn’t all that fantastic though. The burger was very normal, and my grilled fish was also very normal. Aiya normal tasting food is very boring to describe la.

You know looking back at the photos just confirmed my suspicions that I have been ill-treating my poor bf hahaha. Compare his burger with my meal wtf. I’m like underfeeding him or something.

PS. My iPhone is now royally bricked and I’m having withdrawal symptoms from not being able to surf net 24/7 haa. Deciding between 1) Bugging Apple/Singtel until they replace my phone, at the expense of using my pager-like Nokia till then, or 2) Taking it to Sim Lim to repair for $100+.

My phone is giving me a helluva headache right now!

So I have a factory unlocked iPhone 3G I bought in April 09 (i.e. it’s about 7 months old now). It’s been jailbroken since Day 1, and has been working fine all the while. Upgraded to 3.1.2 a week ago, and jailbroke it with blackra1n.

I used it with no problem for around a week until one evening, when:

1. It suddenly drained about 70% battery within 1 hour and the iPhone became unusually hot.
2. The screen froze and showed my battery at 17% (after the massive drain).
3. It had no signal.
4. I restarted it, and it went into the recovery screen and subsequent restarts all ended at the recovery screen.
5. The battery at recovery screen showed 42% and slowly increased up to 50% by the time I went home. (Incredibly weird.)

The screen has been stuck in recovery mode since then. iTunes doesn’t detect my phone, and when it does (in DFU), it insists that my SIM card is either not installed or unactivated, neither of which is true.

When I try to do the default restore (i.e. through iTunes with official firmware), it gives me “The iPhone ‘iPhone’ could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (23).”

About Error 23

According to a source, Error 23 means that there has been a radio failure. It’s a hardware failure meaning all radio functions have died. There is no longer no WiFi, np edge and no bluetooth. The radios have failed. Because of this, the phone thinks there is a sim lock on the phone so it is asking me to unlock it which I can’t.

Another source says that Error 23 comes about when a baseband flash and unlock was unsuccessful.

Error 23 also more or less means that the iPhone is officially bricked.

Have tried:

• Entering DFU and restoring: Error 23 [8 December]
• Rerunning blackra1n: Blackra1n does not finish running and “drops it like it’s hot”. [8 December]
• Restoring on a different PC: Error 23. [8 December]
• Using my SIM card on another phone: SIM card is functional. [8 December]
• Restarting it 3 times consecutively as per some guy on a forum’s suggestion. [10 December]
• Using another SIM card (approved operator) on my phone. [11 December]
• Custom IPSWs 2.0.2, 3.0.1, 3.1.2: Error 1600. [12 December]
• Custom IPSWs with ih8snow: Error 23. [12 December]
• Running ih8snow’s Recovery Loop Fix. [12 December]
• Using iTunes 7.5, 8.0, 8.2, 9. [12 December]

I brought it to Apple, but they refuse to service it because the LSI (a.k.a. liquid indicator) has been triggered. I swear my phone has not been water damaged.

Oh gawd wtf.

Ok I’ve had it up to here (gestures to chin level) with the stupid default smilies for Windows Live Writer! Seriously wtf with creepy smiles like this –> Whotf smiles like that!? I would absolutely run if I saw someone giving me that expression.

I wish there was a way to change the default way a : ) converts to a smiley but before I figure out how to do that, I’ve installed a painfully troublesome but necessary plugin to uncreepify myself. I can now smile semi-normally like this by inserting an image every time I feel like typing : ) –>

Which sucks. So will someone tell me how to change the default : ) pics plz. T_T

Edit: Realize that the smilies are from Wordpress, not Windows Live Writer, hehe. N I’ve changed it wee! For those who want to change the default smilies, go to your wp-includes folder and replace the gif images!

If you have been following my Twitter or Plurk updates, you may know that I have a DSLR to play with until next Friday!

The bf bought his first camera, a Nikon D40 cos of his temporary massive interest in photography. Luckily, or unluckily for me, depending on how you see it, he went off to Brunei right after he bought it, which leaves me to shoulder the responsibility of playing with his cam for him.

Somehow writing the previous paragraph made me feel like a woman whose husband left her with their newborn baby and went to war. Nevermind.

It’s awfully hard for me to take photos, because a DSLR is bloody heavy for me, and I have absolutely. no. fucking. clue what is aperture, shutter speed, exposure… yada yada. I only know these terms cos the bf keeps talking about them, ha..

So imagine the difficulty i went through just to take these 3 shots of my (ever moving – trying to give myself some credit here) furballs.

Honestly, i think i brought DSLR photography to new lows, but i tried! I think they look like run-of-the-mill compact camera photos that were random shots, but i spent a good 30 minutes and 107 blurry, out-of-focus, ugly, too dark, too bright and/or generally bad photos just to produce 3 puny semi-tolerable photos.

I really love the photo of maomao though. I couldn’t take clear photos of him with my compact in the past because he was always fidgeting, and even when he was still the photos were not clear and detailed for some reason.

I’m glad I have a good photo of him to hold onto forever. He’s almost 12 years old which is like 84 in doggie years. I’m really happy i managed to capture these moments of him nicely.
