Pizza Hut for dinner!

Dinner today was delivery from Pizza Hut cos the mum received a flyer and got tempted haha. Sorry that the photo is a bit blur. Looked clear on the camera screen… :P

I ordered the ‘Viva’ crust (the thinner type) and the mum went into a frenzy when she saw it.

Omg! The pizzas shrunk! Why they do this!?!? Why become so thin? Omg cheat our money! OMG!

Yep so I had to spend around 5 minutes explaining to her that I ordered it that way but she still doesn’t understand… I think. It doesn’t make sense why I would order a thinner pizza for the same price when I could have gotten a thicker one (more bread le gasp!).

 

Ah… Mums.

Chicken Katsu with Rice & Jap Curry

This post is to balance out all the theme changing posts for the past couple of days.

I’ve been cooking fairly often nowadays & one of the dishes I remembered to take a photo of is this:

It was my first time deep frying anything and it was a horrific experience.

  1. Wrong type of oil. Well, not wrong per se but according to my mum, deep frying with olive oil is like wiping your mouth with dollar bills.
  2. Wrong type of pan. It was too shallow so the oil was sputtering and making all sorts of scary noises.
  3. Lack of appropriate utensils. I think I needed some sort of tongs or long chopsticks but all I had were normal eating forks and spoons. So I had to put on mittens, hold a lid up as a shield, and quickly lower the chicken into the oil and then run away to prevent boiling oil from getting on me. FML .

But despite all that, I think the dish turned out pretty yummy so that made me feel better. :P

It is also a fairly simple dish to make, if you are not as lousy as me when it comes to deep frying. Will definitely try it again when I’m feeling brave!

Lunch at home is the best!

Working has its ups and downs. The up being that I’m earning money of course, but it sucks to be eating at food courts for lunch everyday!

So as a perk for being on MC for the last 2 days, the mum cooked AWESOME salmon for me.

Behold!!! OMG don’t you just want to droll looking at it? Ok lah actually she’s not so talented cos I added the lemon & lemon pepper myself and told her how long to cook the salmon BUDDEN she still gets the credit cos I wouldn’t have gotten to eat it if she didn’t buy it!

It is pure LUV! Super yummy and perfect doneness for me, which is cooked on the outside but slightly raw on the inside. It is the ONLY WAY to eat salmon ok. Those that eat their salmon well done seriously are missing out. Slurp slurp.

For those interested,

Ingredients:

  • Thick juicy slice of salmon
  • Butter or margarine
  • 1/4 of a lemon
  • Lemon pepper

Directions:

  1. Heat butter in skillet.
  2. Place salmon in skillet, about 1 min on each side or when you can see from the side that the edges are cooked and the middle is still slightly pink.
  3. Remove salmon from skillet, drizzle with fresh lemon juice & sprinkle lemmon pepper generously.
  4. Dig in!

Easy or what!?

I wish I knew what to blog about! My mind is a dry well. I’m so guilty for neglecting my pretty blog!!

Was wearing a rose printed dress I bought from a blogshop! Nice prints but bad cutting. So damn tight at the rib area. I could barely breathe although I’m like how bony.

I looked quite fascinated although I was eating this:

It was some burger place near Coronation Plaza. I chose to replace my buns with rice… the meal was quite blah. Not worth the price tag.

And for the next random update: lookie what I did to my furball! Can I still call him that?

Kwa kwa kwa…

I have no idea how kwa kwa kwa sounds but it just seems like a type of laugh appropriate when looking at photos such as the above.

He looks like a ginormous black lizard with a hairy head la wahahhaha!

Had to stop shaving him when I was almost done cos it started raining and NOWAI I wanna shave him at home, with his massive furfall and all. *cue nightmares of sweeping and vacuuming*

I hate making him so fugly! But the muchkins was having a major case of ticks. Found about 8 per tick searching session over around 5 sessions, which would make his bodeh a tick country of about 50.

Ew.

Thought he was Wendy Certified Tick Free ™ after many thorough searches & tick shampoos & tick powders, but adult ticks were appearing one each day on my room walls. FRICKIN GROSS.

So ya la, bye bye fur it was.

Anniversary cooking misadventures

The bf and I have been together for 4 years as of 1 Jan 2010. :) I suppose that’s a new milestone for 老夫老妻-dom (a.k.a old husband old wife…dom?).

Cooked for him on the eve, and it was quite a fail. Everything was borderline edible (to me la; he claimed to love it but then again he’s obliged to).

It was superbly tragic and depressing cos I usually cook quite well (even if I do say so myself), and I followed the recipes exactly so I have no clue what went wrong. :( Boo!

First dish: Grilled cajun chicken

Looks nothing like it, tasted even further from what it was supposed to be. “Where’s the cajun?”, you may ask. Beats me. I swear I put a more than generous amount during the marinating part, but you can’t even see a hint of red on the chicken. Haih.

Second up: Pan-fried asparagus

Looks edible, but was not. You know how asparagus is supposed to taste all buttery and creamy and melt in your mouth? Did not happen. Instead it tasted like undercooked kang kong with chao tar galic bits. The parmesan cheese is a last minute ditch effort to salvage the flavour.

Third: Basil pasta

Ok I will admit that this one tasted quite ok, but only by accident. Couldn’t taste the basil part of the basil pasta at all. :(

Last up: Baked potato salad

This was thankfully a resounding success. The bf finished it quite enthusiastically too.

Hai I’m feeling miserable just writing about it therefore I shall stop. Will reflect on my skillzors while moping. :(
