Seriously what’s with the need for a title? It’s not every time a post is about a specific topic. Bleh. Speaking of topic-less posts, I forsee a huge amount of them coming up because erm, I’m psychic that way.

Anyway, 恭喜发财 to everyone who’s celebrating Chinese New Year! I had a really busy 3 days running around to many, many, many locations for house visiting. It’s finally Day 4 and rest time.

Went shopping with the bf today for some work clothes. We were at Vivo but I couldn’t find anything from Zara/Mango/Tangs/etc. Instead I managed to get stuff I liked from good ol’ Jurong Point. Auntie evolution… has it begun already!?

First up, pretty vintagey earrings from a pushcart. Not for work obvs, but I couldn’t resist!

Hehehe I like. I’m into vintagey things and florals nowadays, which is making the bf accuse me of becoming an auntie. WTF! That man does not appreciate fashion. But seriously I was quite bothered by what he said haaa. Florals = old meh?

You know why it’s disturbing? Because you see so many aunties walking around in their auntie garb and they are really trying hard to be fashionable. They are completely and tragically oblivious. Therefore aunties do not know that they are aunties!!! And therefore I will not know if I am already one. Ahhh. *shivers in fear*

This is the swatch for OPI California Raspberry! My first red polish!

Colour
I would describe the red as a very rich, well raspberry shade (duh). Depending on what clothes you match it with, the overall vibe it gives can be very Spring (think emerald green and florals), Summer (think yellow sundresses and flipflops), Autumn (think brown trench coats) or Winter (think sleighbells and fireplaces!).

In short, it’s super versatile.

Finish
There is a sheen to it but it’s not shimmery or glittery at all. Kind of pearlescent…

Overall
It’s a pretty good red to try if you’ve never worn red polish before and are afraid that it may look too mature/harsh/unflattering. The shade of red looks vibrant without being tacky.

I would think it suits most fair skintones.

Dyed my hair last week with the Liese Bubble Hair Colour in Marshmallow Brown. The “before” photo is something like this:

My hair faded to this reddish tone and there were really terrible looking black roots in different lengths in random places cos the last DIY dye job was kind of a failure. (It was Beauteen in French Beige btw. Not enough product + hard to apply. Not recommended.)

Anyway, Liese Bubble Hair Colour was so easy to use! It was as easy as shampooing my hair. And I actually had leftover dye after everything haha. Never happened before since I have considerably long hair.

Ok the “after” photo is going to have zero aesthetic appeal cos it was quite dark at home and the only place with enough natural light was the kitchen. –_-“

But anyway, this is how my hair looks now.

The colour looks browner in real life. The red has been muted but there are still a few brassy highlights near the top of my head cos I think the sun lightened my hair. The bubble foam application also made it really simple to spread the dye on the harder to get areas.

My hair was dryer after dyeing but I expected that and it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be fixed with a few hair masks, so no biggie here.

The colour is quite close to what was shown on the box too, which is good. For the price ($19.90), I’m satisfied with the results.

I am very excited now cos I just curled my hair with my new GHD iron and it was a resounding success.

They look awesome and have been staying nice and bouncy for an unprecendented 30 minutes and counting.

PS. It also defrizzes my hair. AWESOME.

Before I start this post, let me reintroduce Upstairs Guy. Some of you may be familiar with him from my tweets and plurks, but for those who don’t… There is a guy, living upstairs. This much I think most of you already have managed to grasp.

The thing is that Upstairs Guy takes a shower at approximately 12:30am to 1:00am every day without fail, and sings Wang Lee Hom songs without fail. His voice is pretty nice btw. So one day I decided to communicate to said Upstairs Guy by singing 彩虹 by Jay Chou loudly (haha) to see if there would be any reaction.

And taa-daa! The next night, he sang this song instead wahahhaa! Anyway I have no point. It’s just that that now he’s singing in this annoying falsetto voice that totally disrupted what I originally wanted to blog about by making me write about him instead.

On to the real post. Kinda. The bf has returned from the jungles of Brunei bearing a gift! He bought me choccies! Didn’t really expect anything given that he was coming back from a jungle so was pleasantly surprised.

He got me this!

A box of Ferrero Tronkys! He has coincidentally bought me my favourite type of chocolate, the type with hazelnut fillings yums. I say coincidentally because I’m so sure that he doesn’t know what my fav type of choc is. In fact, I’m willing to bet my cat on it wtf.

So I have a sewing machine after having a flash of realization that I don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of $ doing minor alterations to my clothes. $8 for a zipper wtffff.

And what are the odds. I googled for ‘sewing machine’ and whaddaya know, the first image that came up was that of my sewing machine! As countless animes have taught me, this is called (unmei).

So after many days of flipping the menu, trial-and-error and asking the dad, I finally figured out how to operate the damn thing.

Behold, my very first stitch on it. *tear*

It’s almost as touching as watching a baby grow up or something. So anyway, have made a collage of the clothes that I should do something about.

Last last last thing I’m going to write about today, promise. I dunno what’s up with how I blog man. Some days I get verbal diarrhea and then after that there’s a loooong drought. Oh well.

Okok the last thing is that I bought a GHD!

A GHD would also be known as the most awesome hairstyler ever. Check out the reviews online and don’t blame me if you go get one yourself hurs. It stands for Good Hair Day, which I will be having all the time from now on thank you.

Staked out at eBay for eons waiting for a cheap one to come by, and from a reliable seller because this straightener is apparently so good that there are tons of fake ones around. The concept of an imitation straightener is so foreign.
