Hello! Today I’m going to do a review of a new favourite product of mine, the ELF Eyebrow Kit. I never filled in my eyebrows until sometime this year, because I always thought that I had quite dense eyebrows that look drawn on if I use any eyebrow products. Well, at least that’s how it was until I tried this eyebrow kit.
There are 4 shades available – Ash, Light, Medium and Dark.
Although my hair colour now is brown, I chose ash because the other 3 shades have reddish tones to them and may make my eyebrows look too harsh.
The Ash shade is really hard to find in Singapore; I got mine online on iHerb.com for US$3. Click on the link or use this discount code GCB797 for US$10 off your first order.
It opens up to reveal a convenient small mirror. The pan on the left is the coloured wax, while the pan on the right is the setting powder. You’re supposed to use the wax to fill in your brows, then set it with the powder. There’s a small double-ended brush included in the kit as well.
I find that this combination of wax + powder works so much better than using eyebrow pencils or powders. Wax also has an added bonus effect of helping the brow hairs stay in place and look neater and more groomed.
And… this is how it looks when used! Before on left, after on right. Very Captain Obvious of me, I know.
It matches my current hair colour well, and I think it darkens my eyebrows in a natural way that doesn’t look too harsh or drawn on.
The difference may be subtle, but I think it has an effect of making my makeup look more “complete” and “done up”. Somehow, now my makeup just doesn’t seem to feel right without doing my brows, haha.
I can’t imagine any product beating this in terms of effect, and very cheap price.
Overall Rating: (5 / 5) Pros: Natural, neatens brows, good colour match, good lasting power, travel friendly, cheap. Cons: Case gets dirty easily.
Mustered enough energy to get out of my seat, and bleach my eyebrows. Just in time for the wedding dinner on Sunday!
I bought the bleach wanting to use it fortnightly, thinking “how difficult can it be to spend 10 minutes twice a month doing this?”
I have now learnt that any sentence beginning with “how difficult can it be…” is a trap. It will be that difficult, and more.
Just for the record, I use Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach For Face. I got it on Qoo10 for $15.90. Should last me for at least a year, with how sporadically I’m using it. #ashamed
