Went to Ajinomori. It’s newly opened at Holland V so as part-resident I needed to lend my support!

The setting is really cute and cozy, with cushions for seats and wood everywhere. :)

I had the set dinner ($23) and managed to change the hot udon to cold soba. They served me hot soba at first in error, but it was quickly replaced so all was well.

I think they fished out the soba from the hot one and served it to me though, because it was way mushy and overcooked when it arrived. If that is true, boo. But I shall give them benefit of the doubt.

The sashimi nigiri sushi was quite nice and fresh but it was not outstanding. The rest of the items were pretty forgettable too.

I know it sounds very lackluster but all I’m saying that Ajinomori is a very normal Japanese restaurant, albeit slightly below average if the dishes I had were representative. Still, I would go back for future gatherings, because the environment is just so nice to stay and chat in.

The service staff are quite friendly too so that’s another plus point for them!

Receipt scan done with awesome app JotNot, here because I say so:

Had lunch with minnie at Marche for lunch n it was such a tragic affair. I’m so bitter that I paid $16.50 for a Caesar salad!!!

I can’t believe it… A plate of vegetables n some smoked salmon. Omg.

N apparently the prices on the board are before GST. Ok I dunno why somehow I assumed they were nett price so it was a rude shock although I guess I can’t really blame them for this.

Got this while at Robinson’s last weekend! It was on 20% so why not. :P About $14 after discount.

This is shade #02 Baby Pink. #01 is called nude something… it’s a more peachy shade.

Just tried it on a couple of seconds ago… the effect isn’t as glorious as what is shown on the packaging (obviously), but I think to a certain extent it neutralises my original lip colour, albeit to a slightly ashy tone.

It’s good as a base too, to prevent my lips from discolouring from dark lipsticks, so I guess it’ll serve some purpose.

Dropped by Sunset Way over the weekend cos we’re cool like that. Was hungry and my criterion were 1) Air-con (non-compromisable) and 2) Cheap (compromisable).

Thankfully we ended up somewhere that fit both criterion! And thankful-ler, they were actually still serving breakfast at 12pm! Tee hee. :)

We ordered:

  • Breakfast Set B: German sausage with omelette, toast and salad, with a cup of tea. ($9.50)
  • Slice of chicken pie ($4.50)

Honestly, the omelette wasn’t all that tasty and the slice of garlic bread was hard & chewy, and a bit unnecessary. Unfortunately, the tea also belongs to this paragraph, being diluted and bland, and obviously Lipton. Not that I have anything against Lipton because it can taste decent if brewed properly.

However, I loved the salad! Loved loved loved! The balsamic vinaigrette dressing, which is made by the owner herself (actually I’m not sure if she’s the owner or not), was awesome. It complemented the vegetables so well. Wish they just sold the salad by itself!

The chicken pie was also a good treat! First, it was a fantastic surprise that the $4.50 portion was actually a quarter of a chicken pie! I expected a normal 1/6 or 1/8 portion but we got a gigantic slice. :D

It was hugely satisfying (pun intended) and I would imagine it goes well with some blankets and a TV in front of me.

There was a promotion going on at Somerset 313… the above thingaming was selling for only $4.90! Compared to the usual fare of cai peng which is also $4.90, this was a major steal.

Unfortunately udon is my least favourite Japanese food so it was a relative challenge to fully enjoy it, but the fact that it’s $4.90 and not from a food court is comfort in itself.

Good for quick value-for-$ meals in town!

Taste wise, it was a pretty average bowl of udon overall; the soup was quite nice though.
