Allow me to introduce my not-so-sparkly new toy!

In some ways it is a downgrade from my Fujitsu netbook which looks awesome n sleek n just really beautiful (photo for your reference, complete with my blurry face in the background for your viewing pleasure):

I was hit with buyer’s remorse on the way home after buying my desktop, imagining how ugly my desk would look with this unsightly thing on it. I was not wrong. It is indeed ugly.

I am reluctant to even post the photo up because it kind of makes my blog look ugly zzz.

Thoughts like god is performance that important? man it has no aesthetic value! surfaced, and resurfaced in my mind.

But then I am consoled whenever I right click on Computer, select Properties, and see this:

Plus a 1GB Nvidia Graphics Card.

I know it isn’t remotely near gaming standards or impressive at all, but if you have been trying to use a netbook for Photoshop (something that a netbook isn’t meant for I know, but amazingly it is possible, just a bit laggy)… I think you will be able to empathize with me on this.

I haven’t mentioned yet that I got all of it + an 18.5” LED monitor + Win 7 Home Premium, all for $863.00.

If I went for the same specs for an off-the-shelf desktop (which will not look so bad), I will need to pay at least double. Which no I can’t afford. Having enough money to purchase it affordability.

So well, I’ll just try not to think too much about how it looks but instead focus on inner beauty. Hahaha why do I feel that this is turning philosophical.

I’m a bit unsettled still, but overall happier!

Update on 9 Oct 2011 (5 months later): Standard of living has infinitely improved. Do not regret this purchase. But still feel that the aesthetics are sorely lacking. Occasionally I twitch uncomfortably from the ugliness. But this is called living within my means. I shall reluctantly accept my fate.

Update on 23 Aug 2012 (1 year 3 months later): It’s too ugly. TOO UGLY. So many wires. So much dust. It’s all black and manly looking. And also cheap looking but the cheap part is not what gets me. It takes up too much space!!!! Going back to a laptop soon… -_-
