Cabbing

cabcotaxi

When I really think about it, the utility that I derive from cabbing is limited to the single journey on the cab. In other words, I am paying for the convenience of the 20 minutes ride, period.

Compare this to say, a shirt. I can wear a shirt for a looong time, which means the total utility = (Utility per wear) x (Times worn). Same goes for other items like cups, lotions, cameras, bolsters, and other random things that I can use more than once.

From this perspective, cabbing suddenly feels super super expensive. :( Ok I seriously resolve to stop cabbing.

I have to stop being such a siew zeh (rough translation: pampered girl?). Or at least spend the money on things that are more worth it.

Think about the stuff I could have bought each month if I didn’t cab! Sigh.

Benefit Badgal Mascara

Won this from CLEO’s July issue. :) It looks awesome. Hope I’ll like it!

My 3-pin bun!

I watched lots of different hair tutorials on how to bun hair with pins, and tried to follow the instructions, with zero success for months. I can use 20 bobby pins to try to keep my hair in place but it still comes undone.

This all ended one day not too long ago, when the weather was excruciatingly hot and there were no hairties in sight. Driven by frustration, I magically succesfully bunned my hair with the only 3 bobby pins I had.

The bun is super secure and stays there however vigorously I shake my head, and doesn’t hurt or feel tight (there is less tension than a regular hairtie ponytail).

On top of that, I think it looks pretty amazing for something so simply achieved.

Sometimes, desperation gives rise to sudden talent (kind of like how some people learn to swim when you throw them into the deep end of the pool).

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Soap Review

 image

My new soap! Decided to try old skool bar soap instead of my usual shower gel for the nice rosewater scent without having to buy their expensive shower gel ($30 for 250ml T_T). Soap bar is only $5 on eBay. Roxors.

Wonder how soap lathers. Hmmm. Good luck to me! Off to try!

Update: Tried it. Long story short, it was okay but it fell below expectations.

Pros

  • Was not as drying as drugstore shower gels that can leave skin quite parched after a shower. My skin didn’t feel smooth and glide-y but it was better.
  • It lathers very well, especially with a loofah, and the lather was rich and velvety as claimed.
  • My skin felt very clean afterwards.
  • The loofah was much easier to wash than when I used shower gel.

Cons

  • The main thing that I bought it for, the rosewater scent, was noticeably absent. Sniff as I may, all I smelled was soap.

You may notice that the pros list much longer than the cons’, but sadly, the one thing I want my soap/shower gels to do is to make me smell good after I shower, and this soap couldn’t deliver that. :(

OCD

Some people, aka the Mum, like to tell me that I’m very anal because I have to do some things a fixed way or I would feel super uncomfortable.

  • Like how I need to arrange my wardrobe according to 1) Sleeve length, 2) Colour and 3) Shade/Print. I will know immediately if someone has rearranged my clothes, and which ones are out of place. I like how it’s super easy to see the overall scheme of my wardrobe and where I need to add/subtract pieces.
  • I also abhor it when people rest their feet on my chair. It irritates me to no end as to why they can’t let me have my 60cm of personal space.
  • I can’t stand my own typo errors on Twitter and I will delete a tweet and retweet it even if just a period was missing, or the first letter wasn’t capitalized.

The list (really) goes on. It’s ironic how irritated I am by all these given how messy my room is (because somehow I think that the first and most basic step of being OCD is being obsessively neat and clean; i’m so not).

Right now I’m tediously going through every post on this blog and rearranging the categories because it just doesn’t feel organized to me. Halfway through I felt pretty stupid, but I know that the uncomfortable feeling of the posts not being in place won’t just go away.

Urgh.
