Apparel resolution

My first thought when I bought my $69 knit long cardigan was,

Here I go, wasting money again.

Then I started wearing it. Every other day. I would wear it to lectures, tutorials, to town, to the supermarket. Any time the temperature dropped below 25 deg C, it was time for the sweater. The neutral khaki colour conveniently managed to go with almost everything I owned.

I started thinking that $69 isn’t that much to pay for something I wear so often. The good thing about it being that price, is that it was well-made. Good cutting, great versatile colour; it never went out of shape even though I handled it pretty roughly.

I began to feel that this cardi was a better buy than the $19 tops I wore around 5 times or so and had to throw away because they were either out of shape/faded/furred.

One day, I looked at my mum’s work wardrobe, and it was a treasure cove of well-tailored shirts, skirts, jackets, every single piece of which was made of extremely luxurious and lasting material. They probably cost a pretty penny, but I reckon that these clothes, some of which lasted her for more than 2 decades, were more than worth every single cent.

I won’t be able to afford to invest in these pieces right now, but I’m so glad I figured it out.

Green Day

My face is now an interesting shade of green with a slight grey cast, no thanks to partaking in some muacksmuacks activities with the sick boyfriend over the weekend in a moment of forgetfulness.

It’s amazing how fast viruses spread. I’ve gotten the sore throat, cough, runny nose with an extra (for free!) fever thrown in, just for the holiday season (wait, what holiday…?).

Well, there’s nothing like a boyfriend’s illness to remind me of him 24/7. Yay.

Lunch at Cafebiz

Hungrygowhere is having a 1-for-1 lunch buffet promo for the month of August, and the mum decided to treat me (twice!!), hehs.

The first time we went, we arrived at about 1:30pm, leaving us only 1 hour before the buffet ended. We didn’t get to sample the entire spread, so we decided to reach earlier the 2nd time round to get the full bang for our buck! :P

Didn’t manage to take many photos cos I couldn’t be arsed to arrange the food nicely on my plate for the sole purpose of a photograph, so here the 2 miserable ones that I did take:

Smoked snowfish, baked fish, pasta, mussels, buttered corn or something.

Forgive the weird colour of the 2nd photo… the lighting at Cafebiz was really dim, and this was the best I could edit it to. It looks like a very uncomfortable mix of orange and blue. Oh well?

Ehhhs. That’s about all I want to say for this post. I should really take more photos so that I can blog more often.

SAF Seaview Resort

The bf’s brother booked a chalet there for the weekend for their entire extended family. It’s near impossible to book, or so I’ve heard. And not open to the public. So yay for us!

I’ve never even heard of it before this, but I’ve decided that it’s one of the best chalets in Singapore!

Kitchen!

Good looks aside, the ultimate winning point of it for me was that it is so spotlessly clean, that I’m sure I could roll around on the floor and not worry about dirt/pimples/feeling grossed out. Not that I did, of course, ahem.

Unfortunately, I was really bored throughout cos I didn’t know many of his family members, and there was little to do except eat, watch movies and stand around.

Maybe I’ll have more fun next time. :) To end off, here’s a photo of us!

The lesser of 2 evils

I think…

It’s better to be hated for who you are, than to be loved for who you’re not.

I have my moments.
