We’re celebrating our 3rd anniversary later and I’ve finished making a cheesecake for the boyfriend! It was originally meant to be a surprise, but I couldn’t keep it in… so he knows… zzz…

And I need to share the excitement of finishing the cake, so erm.. there’s a photo… But! I mosaic-ed it! It’s still partially mysterious right?

… Right?

Taiwan – Day 2 of 8

Early morning, we were herded on the coach to the train station.

IMG_2008

We almost missed the train cos we went down the wrong platform, but good thing we realised it before it was too late.

The inside of the train is damn clean and nice okay!

IMG_2018

They even have attendants going down the aisle with a tray of condiments, ala flight stewardesses. Shiokness.

At our destination (cannot remember where… Chia Yi I think…):

IMG_2024

There was a 7-11 there! It may not seem like big news, but their 7-11 trashes Singapore’s FLAT.

They sell actual, edible food unlike the mashed up rubbish that they attempt to pass off as “Quick Bites” here. Eurgh.

IMG_2031

Every receipt is also some sort of a lottery ticket.

IMG_2032

I couldn’t figure out how to enter the lottery because, erm, I couldn’t read the 繁体字. Sweat. Ahem.

So we got on the coach (…again) and headed to Alishan!

Had “bian dang” (便当) for lunch and it was quite eh, interesting I suppose.

IMG_2059

At the place we ate:

IMG_2044

The mum while we were walking along the streets (notice her doing the finger twist – she twists ok! hip or what!):

IMG_2046

They have cars like these that resemble artifacts:

IMG_2064

The only reason I can think of that the villages can’t figure out how to get it down the mountain, so they just leave it there and pray for it to decompose.

There was also a dog that was so huge I almost mistook it for a bear:

IMG_2036

The owner damn unfriendly though. I asked if I could pat it and he just stared at me and said no. -_- Zzz.

Oh yah, before I forget, this was our resting ground for the day:

IMG_2071

At the “hotel”, they made us do all sorts of boliao stuff that was supposed to entertain us and you know, culturfy us.

I wasn’t entertained. But I guess some people were. :P Like ahem. *points below*:P

Making some agar agar type of thing:
IMG_2075

Standing on stilts (the man on the right actually stopped some of us from playing basketball, claiming it was the wrong way to play – and tried to get us to stand on stilts to kick the basketball around – no one entertained him):

IMG_2079

Making some windmill sort of thing out of bamboo things:

IMG_2122

Into the night it got a wee bit more interesting. We went on a night walking trail thing, which was super cold, but we saw fireflies!

The way they glow is not like what we see on TV! They don’t glow like faint tiny dots; it’s more like huge luminous bulbs.

We also made muah chee:

IMG_2123

We were supposed to like pound a gluttinous rice paste until it became muah chee.

The end product:

It turned out super delicious, probably cos it was so fresh. Yums. :D

And that concludes Day 2!

A quick complaint

Okay there’s something that kinda spoiled the Taiwan trip for me that I have to vent about.

I should really have brought along my moisturiser, but I wanted to save those grams for shopping. Bad decision.

My skin felt like sandpaper by the 5th day. It was soo rough to the touch I almost wanted to cry. My forehead and nose, and cheek area near my nose are covered in tiny little bumps. Think they are clogged pores.

I’ve gotten rid of the sandpaper texture by moisturising and masking and exfoliating like there’s no tomorrow, but the bumps ah.. :( Cannot get rid of them!

Why, why why!?

Was Taiwan too dry? But it’s not like I’ve never gone to cold/dry countries before what! Was it dirt?

The possible origins of dirt:

  1. Taiwan is generally very dirty.
  2. The coach which we spent most of our time in is very dirty.
  3. The boyfriend’s clothes which my face touched when I leaned on him while sleeping are dirty.
  4. My scarf (which I used to wrap my face when it got very cold) and gloves were dirty.

I’m inclined towards item (4)… Hai. Shucks. :(

Taiwan – Day 1 of 8

The posts following this one are probably going to get shorter and shorter, along with my attention span, so enjoy the words while you can.

Most of the time spent in Taiwan was on the tour bus (-_-”), but amazing me still managed to take a total of 805 photos, hoho!

They are mostly boring shots like this:

IMG_1973

… which will have no meaning whatsoever to you, but erhhh, it helps me to remember the trip, so eh… why am I explaining myself anyway?

That was Changi Airport, by the way, for fellow mountain tortoises who don’t really venture out of their caves.

The Dad couldn’t come along for the trip, so the boyfriend came along instead with the Mum and me.

The cute Dad that sent us off although he had a flight later in the afternoon:

Before the take-off:

Okay so the highlight of Day 1 comes.

The stewardess was distributing drinks, and the choices were orange juice and beer.

The boyfriend ordered beer, and the stewardess went,

Beer? Okay, just a minute. I’ll get it for you.

It wouldn’t sound strange at all if there weren’t already 2 cups that was on her tray. So the question here is:

Why didn’t she give the beer on her tray to the boyfriend?

So she went to the back, and came back with the cup on the left (the one without foam):

IMG_1982

Cup on left = Apple juice. Cup on right = Beer (which we managed to acquire later).

She thought he was underaged and gave him a drink that looked most like beer!

Wahahahahahahahahahaha! *chokes* My mum and I almost died laughing. I imagine this is how they trick kids:

Kid sees some guy ordering beer.

Kid: Mummy! I want beer!
Mum (to stewardess): Give him beer. *wink wink*
Stewardess: *wink wink* Ok.

Stewardess brings apple juice.
Kid looks around and sees that his drink is exactly like the other guy’s, and is happy.

/abrupt change in subject (because I want to end this post already; I’m tireeedd!)

We arrived in Kao-hsiung kinda late in the evening, so our activities for that day were postphoned to another day. Our hotel for the night:

The breakfast (which was kinda blah):

The ridiculous thing the Mum made me do:

The end!

Taiwan, baby!

IMG_2186

I’m back! All hail clean and warm baths, moisture, the sun, and cars on the right side of the road (right as in correct, not right-left-right).

I just took the longest shower ever and am now relaxing with a 我的美丽日记 Black Pearl Mask. In a T-shirt and shorts – which I couldn’t wear in Taiwan without freezing.
