On being “fake”

Girls nowadays are putting on more makeup than ever. Sometimes, I think the girls I see on the streets put on so much makeup that they don’t even remotely resemble themselves without makeup.

They seem to rely on makeup so much that they become consumed by it.

Ugly eyes? There are coloured contacts, fake lashes, eyeliner.

Small boobs? Say hi to push-ups!

Dull skin? Foundation and blush are your best friends!

…. Wait a minute.

Is that really called getting “prettier”? Or is that just creating the illusion of looking better with all the products on you?

The avalanche of beauty aids claim to be helping plain janes to become just a little bit more.

But what happens when it all comes off at the end of the day? We look into the mirror, and we see our face bare, without the (expensive) mask we put on in the morning.

Our eyes become lifeless, our skin loses its “glow”, even our lips lose the smile it had.

All the confidence we had, washes off along with the make-up. How much “help” is too much?

Scarf for Taiwan!

Going for a trip gives me the best excuses to shop, heh heh.

Just received this scarf I bought online! Love it! It’s suitable for Singapore weather too! (Self-justification at work.)

I’ve recently been on a scarf/leggings craze, by the way. I wish I lived in a temperate country, rawr!

Kitty found

Dear all who are concerned, Kitty is safe at home now. :) Everyone told me it was almost hopeless already, and I was also beginning to believe it, but I’m glad I decided to shout for him one last time!

I found him near a drain very near my house at about 2 am… a place I have searched at least 7-8 times (very weird eh). He was half drenched by the rain, looking terrified, and meowing very pathetically when I called him. He seemed really relieved to see me. (The feeling’s mutual, Kitty.)

His paws are both injured… one of the paw pads was quite bloody and mutilated… and one claw broke off (but no blood there). Damn heart pain… I have no idea what happened…

Theories that have been proposed:

  • He fell into a drain and injured his paws trying to get up.
  • Someone took him into their home and he got hurt trying to escape.
  • He got into a fight with some other animal and went into hiding.
  • He almost got knocked down by a car that’s why he didn’t dare to cross the road home.
  • He got very, very lost and only managed to find his way home after a long time.
  • He tried to climb a tree and got stuck.

It’s really strange though… he was one small road away from home (when I found him) and he didn’t come back. He apparently didn’t eat outside either… cos he was so hungry he gobbled up the entire bowl of food I gave him when we reached home.

What scared him so badly that he didn’t even dare to meow for help, or come out from under the car/inside the drain to cross the road?

Love

So simple, and yet so complicated… but I guess that’s what makes love… love.

The pulls and pushes. The mystery; the intrigue of it all.

The mess it makes out of us.
