Investigator Wendy on Case Kitty: And then there were four.

Some background on Case Kitty for the uninitiated. With the help of fellow investigators, Case Kitty is close to being solved!

Narrowing the list was no easy feat. Investigator Wendy had to tolerate allegations that she was (gasp) boliao, and… a stalker (gaspshockhorror)! Alas, such hurdles are but stepping stones for TRUTH!

Before revealing those who made the cut, it is imperative for us to address a fatal flaw in the investigation that skeptics (read: Daphne) have identified. What if he’s not on Kitty’s blogroll?

The Kitty claims,

“what makes u so sure that my blogroll is updated? lol.”

True or false claim? A mystery fit for Investigator Wendy!

Since Investigator Wendy herself only got on Kitty’s blogroll recently (1 or 2 months ago), we may conclude that her blogroll is updated! Sneaky Kitty, trying to mislead us all!

Okay, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, the final four suspects that remain are:

Of course, the possibility that Kitty updated the blogroll without including The Crush is there, budden, Investigator Wendy… chooses to ignore that possibility. Wahahahaha.

Investigations will continue, but solving the mystery is indeed an uphill task, even for Investigator Wendy, given that information on suspects is extemely limited! So again, in conclusion, Investigator Wendy’s expert opinion is that Kitty’s crush is..

Bet you all didn’t realise that Takuya Kimura was at SMB:S2 (Social Media Breakfast) right. Investigator Wendy always has the scoop, heh heh!

Raw onions – the bane of all food.

I was looking forward to my “da bao”-ed dinner from Botak Jones (by my wonderful maid), and I was almost drooling when I saw their signature yellow box on my table.

But something was different this time.

Picture0003_renamed_25831

Something was definitely smelling amiss! Instead of the usual aromatic smell of food, a weird and pungent smell was wafting from the box. (Notice green arrows indicative of pungent odour.)

I opened the box tentatively, and to my absolute horror, I saw this!

IMGP4564

Si mi lai eh?! (translated: what on earth?) Are those… really… raw onions? A whole truckload of them on my otherwise fantastic dinner?

Rawr!

I painstakingly fished out all the onion (my unsuspecting dog ate a few slices because I dropped them, poor him), and look at how much onion there was!

IMGP4566

Seriously, what were they thinking?! Does anyone actually like eating raw onions to this extent? Since when were raw onions served with hotdogs? Since when were raw onions served in massive quantites, period?

The most I’ve seen of raw onions are the occasional couple of rings on salads… Something is wrong with the folks at Botak Jones!

I most definitely did not want onion-infused tomatoes. (Or onion-infused anything, for that matter.) Bleargh.

Investigator Wendy tries to find the scoop on Kitty’s crush!

Daphne has a crush on someone, and we’re all dying to know who! As the newly appointed investigator of Ping (for what reason I also dunno), it is my public duty to use my skillzors for the greater good!

The guy must meet the following criteria:

1. Started chatting on shoutbox few months ago.

Investigator Wendy says: Few months probably means 3 to 4 months, which would make it around Jan to Feb 2008.

2. Has a blog that engages Kitty mentally (and possibly other ways).

Investigator Wendy says: Engaging blog… you mean he blogs about chocolate ice cream?

3. Has not gone for any outings before but has met Daphne in person.

Investigator Wendy says: Sneaky fellow! Why so elusive only go out with Kitty?

4. Is really really charming in person.

Investigator Wendy says: Kitty’s definition of really charming is questionable. This may be a misleading clue.

5. He is attached.

Investigator Wendy says: This information is likely to be not on his blog (i.e. in About and posts), because Kitty only found out he was attached after she met him.

Stay tuned as Investigator Wendy narrows down the list! Please feel free to help solve the mystery. Share what you know! Let no stone be unturned!

List of Possible Suspects

This is based purely on Kitty’s links in her sidebar… engaging read should have a link bah…

Before we start, it should be noted that the user ‘takuya’ or ‘kimura’ does not exist on Ping, which leaves the possibility of Takuya Kimura being the culprit down to 0, sadly.

After removing all the girls (some may still remain due to unisex nicks), and removing those I’ve seen in outings before, the following remain:

I think I have a good hunch about this. It’s…

TAKUYA KIMURA!

Update: The list is very narrow now!

My cute jap girl alterego

Saw it here, and being well, me, I went to play around with it (Jap interface and all) just to get a screenshot because it’s so pretty!

This is me on Poupee Girl!

poupee

I feel like dyeing my hair now, and I would totally wear the heels if they don’t bloody hurt so much. And I feel like wallpapering my room. I’m like the perfect target for advertisers. Show me one photo and I’ll show them my bank account. -_-”

Do hair salons take part in the Great Singapore Sale? No, right?

One day I want to be like this.

All got LV bag hokay! *dreamy sigh*

What is the best font for blogging?

I’ve never really thought about this issue in much detail until recently. I changed my font to “Century Gothic” around 2 themes back. It was first used in the theme Bugsy, which was the overwhelming green theme with the ladybug that most people hated. (Oops.) I… don’t have a screenshot. (Thank goodness.)

Below is was the font on my blog.

century

I was initially quite pleased with the font’s look. Round, cute, and really quite pretty. I still think it’s round, quite and really quite pretty, but I realised that I’ve gotten my priorities completely wrong. The font in paragraphs that people are supposed to read shouldn’t be pretty (now I realise how ridiculous I was), the most important thing is that it should be

R E A D A B L E.

I slowly realised how difficult it was (even) for me to read my own entries without getting a little starry eyed.

So, “How do I choose a good readable font for my blog or website?”, you ask.

Here are some important points I’ve picked out.

1. Readable fonts have similar character widths.

width

The font on the row above is very similar to Century Gothic, and totally enlightened me on why my font wasn’t readable at all. The widths of different alphabets are just too varying! This is especially evident when contrasted with the font on the row below.

2. Readable fonts have similar height-to-width ratios.

In english, it means that they aren’t expanded or narrowed. (E.g. Arial Narrow)

width

Notice the left ‘S’ is much easier to read than the right ‘S’.

3. Avoid overlarge counters!

“Counters” are…. hard to explain. Look at the picture below for detailed thousand word description. (Because pictures speak a thousand words, hahaha, haha, ha… ha.. *awkward laughter trails off*)

counters

My oh my, yet another flaw of “Century Gothic”. Gawd, that font was pure evil!

Yup, the above are the 3 most important points.

“Butbutbut, there are millions upon billions of different fonts! You mean I have to search through the *entire* Internet and tick each one against the checklist to find a good font? *flabbergasted*”

Fret not, young padawan. The 4 most recommended readable fonts according to experts are: Adobe Casion, Garamond, ITC Stone Serif and Janson Text 55 Roman. (Update: These fonts aren’t the best to use for blogging though, as pointed out by Uzyn. Verdana, Serif, Tahoma, Helvetica are good alternatives.)

I personally like Verdana. Did you know that Microsoft specifically designed Verdana to be easily readable on small screens? Betcha didn’t! :D Heh heh. :P
