Do you know who invented the walkman?
Studying has its benefits. Sometimes. I found out something new today when I was reading the case study for my examination. I’ve always thought that the walkman was just like… a product. You know, like a computer, a pencilbox… It’s hard to imagine that it was actually just another product line, like Vaio, Vista, Exilim.
The term “walkman” has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary since 1986. (It’s as old as me, hmm. Erm, I mean… it’s as young as me.)
Anyway, before anyone dies of suspense (…unlikely), it’s… Sony! They also launched the Betamax, the world’s first home-VCR. That wasn’t as revolutionary as the walkman though.
I can’t believe I’m gushing about something as geeky as this. Oops.

Lol..yes Sony created the walkman. The term walkman became so popular it became a word in itself. Other brands that were word replacements in the past or may still be are Colgate or Pampers..Only now that there are more brand recognition that we it becomes toothpaste and diapers. haha

Actually Betamax was pretty revolutionary, but it went into this war against VHS. And in the end VHS won (it was a dirty deal). So we consider VHS as the revolutionary home video technology. :p
