Roast Meat Rice @ Toh Guan Road
I just had an unbelievably delicious plate of roast meat rice (is that what it’s called? I only know it’s called shao rou fan in chinese) at Toh Guan Road! It’s at the block beside Blk 284… below a multi-storey carpark.
Notice how the meat is kinda reddish, and not whitish like it normally is. That’s not because it’s undercooked… but because of some secret special cooking technique I think. There’s this quite special taste that I can’t put a finger to, because well, erh, I’m not much of a cook. I can only describe the dish in very layman terms. =X Oh, and the meat is juicy and chewy… not like dry and hard… *contented sigh*
It’s super good! You think you know how the roast meat is supposed to taste like, but goodness, this redefines the taste completely! Hahahaha. I know I’m gushing lah, but it’s really good. The rice is kinda dry though. But nevermind, I forgive him! If he was talented in both making the meat and the rice, it would be too unfair for other roast meat sellers.
Poor uncle has lots of banners and lots of roast meat displayed, but the coffee shop he’s at is sadly kinda ulu. I don’t want him to move away! He’s a nice uncle by the way. He helped me take my cutlery and placed it on my plate ok! Hahahahaha. If you live nearby or happen to travel to the area around IMM, do pay this stall a visit!
