Being pretty is hard work
I’m not talking about myself, of course. I don’t fufill either criteria of being pretty nor putting in hard work. Hur hur.
I came across this thread on plastic surgery. (link here) Erm, I think I should state first that plastic surgery isn’t the hard work I’m talking about.
I’m referring to styling hair before going out, make up, manicures, bothering to put on fake lashes every time, exercising frequently, having a beauty regime and following it (e.g. facial masks, hair treatments, moisturising, etc).
It’s almost as tedious as going to tutorials. -_-”
Some girls really bother. And I guess I applaud them for their effort to look better. I always feel slightly inspired after reading such things, but I’ve grown to realise that this inspiration tends to be a very fleeting emotion, haha.
This is the girl that generated my entire thought process.
My theory is that it’s not the plastic surgery that made the difference, but rather the extra effort in grooming herself (notice the differnce in hair texture) and slimming down. If she didn’t do something about her complexion, or do hair treatments, no amount of plastic surgery could make her look good. Someone once told me that as long as someone has perfect skin, hair and teeth, it’s pretty much enough to look good.
I guess there is certain truth in that. See, features like eyes, lips, etc may not look like the industry standard, but they can arguably bring out your personality. Things like small eyes, thinner lips, etc. However, things like bad skin, bad hair or bad teeth can only show your lack of personal hygiene.
Maybe one day I’ll bother to groom myself. Maybe not.
